As pupils return to school following lockdown, active travel is more important than ever to help children get to school safely and healthily.
Bike to School Week starts on Monday 28th September. In order to make this a safe initiative in school and ensure we can store children’s bikes each day, we have allocated specific days to classes throughout the week. If your child would prefer to scooter, that’s absolutely fine. Any active travel which does not include bringing the car to school makes a big difference to air pollution and pupils’ safety. Don’t forget your helmet!
- Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 – Monday 28th and Tuesday 29th September
- Year 3 and Year 4 – Wednesday 30th September and Thursday 1st October
- Year 5 and Year 6 – Friday 2nd October
The health and wellbeing benefits of children travelling actively to school are well-known, from improved behaviour and concentration, to a stronger sense of independence. In school, children will be completing activities as they learn about positive, safe travel habits and healthy lifestyles.
